Homesteader's guns series
Every homestead had it's own share of predators and enemies, and nothing has changed in these modern days. These days more than ever. From poisonous snakes that are so common in United States, skunks, raccoons, opossums, wild cats, bobcats, stray dogs, foxes, coyotes, up to wolfs, jaguars, mountain lions, bears and to the most feared, the beast on two legs.
Yes, there are services that deal with all of those threats but for the surprising, fast attacks against you, your family and your homestead you need an appropriate reaction and that means using your gun. Of course, not all these threats are present on all parts of the USA and for that you must adjust your types of guns and ammunition, but because of the beast on two legs, there is not much variation between different geographical locations.
Apart from the defensive guns, there must be hunting guns as well, that can put food on the table in times of need, when the farm is not going too well, and no matter the guns you decide to have, there must be some that can be easily used by the children and the wife - no question asked.
Consider this page as the beginning of a new series, where I propose in separated articles combinations of guns to be used on your homestead. New links will appear bellow so visit this page frequently. Among them, there will be also my preferred combination.
The episodes will have the following format:
- the shotgun - this is the classic defensive or service farm gun;
- the hunting rifle - another gun that must be owned and this can contain more than one recommendation;
- the personal gun - this can have multiple uses: concealed carry, training at the farm, home defense, etc.

Special note:
I did an article about the guns you should have with you in a bug out situation and the reasons behind. Of course, is a totally different approach but is an article that I would not like to see it buried under the hundreds of new articles so, I'm posting the link here:
How many guns you can carry in an SHTF situation
Another link I want to save, goes to a page where I list all my personal options regarding firearms. A personal choice that I do not recommend to anyone (you will see why):
My absolute selection of shotguns, rifles and revolvers
Thanks for reading and God bless!
