We are back to our classic format, one shotgun, one hunting rifle, one personal gun. For quite some time, KelTec is hard to avoid when is about home defense, survival solutions and concealment carry. Their designs go from kind of a LEGO conception, to a very high tech and kinda alien design.  Some might like them, some not. One thing is for sure: their solutions are tempting! The shotgun   The KelTec KS7 12 gauge shotgun is a compact bullpup  design, suitable first for home defense and hiking, then for any situation that require a compact shotgun. It looks awesome, but is a shotgun that you cannot wave it everywhere. But, as we are farmers in quite "isolated" areas, our environment is more than suitable. You can read the specs on their site.   I was preparing to celebrate Mr. Trump's victory but it seems that we have to be patient for a while...  So, let's play safe and strong in these hopefully not too long four years and pray to our Creator for guidance ( despite China's sovereign contempt ). You may ask... Wherever you go, you can find around you people that praise the phenomenal versatility of the AR-15 rifle. And obviously, they are right in every aspect. Almost any gun manufacturer that treasure their own brand, comes with a variant of AR-15. And, you might say that this rifle is for big boys. Well... almost!  As I said in another article, I "grew up" with an AK-47 clone in my hands. I mean, I became a true man, when I satisfied the military service in my country, as mothers like to say about their children. I liked that rifle but.. there wasn't too much of a choice. This is my new favorite multi-caliber break-action mini-revolver! A little bit on the expensive side, but worth mainly because of the break-action that offers the same speed for reloading as of any other classic revolver, maybe even faster. It is chambered in 22WMR and comes also with an additional cylinder chambered in 22LR ammo - 5 shots are plenty.  Product web page . Below, a presentation video:

To me, this shotgun that comes chambered in 12 gauge looks amazing. But it should have been in 20 gauge to be perfect. Anyway, a formidable home defense and a farm service shotgun.  Wait! A tactical shotgun for farm service? Well, that is how you impose respect in the varmint world! With a tactical shotgun and a soft body armor! Kidding...  Really, I like it and I don't care if it doesn't fit close to a cowboy. Have you seen Westworld? Or that farmer that shot the Klingonian with a plasma lever action rifle? Harrington & Richardson® or New England Firearms®, which is property of the Marlin Firearms Company starting from November 2000, is currently the largest manufacturer of single shot shotguns and rifles in the world.  The H&R Survivor Shotgun comes in .410/45 Colt caliber and chambered up to 3". The barrel is 20" long and has a screw-in choke. The stock comes with a storage compartment, sling swivel studs and sling.   With adapters from gunadaptes.com it can shoot pistol and revolver bullets as 38 special, 380 ACP, 22 LR and 9mm and these adapters can be stored in the storage compartment of the stock, increasing the value of the investment.  Below, an example of how to tune your shotgun (not the exact model but suggestive):

This is a single shot, break action shotgun with 26" barrel. This version has a red dot optics and comes in two calibers: .410 bore and 20 gauge, 3" chambered.  Designed primarily  for Turkey hunting, with the right choke tube and ammunition the shotgun can be used in all the jobs around the farm. A politically safe gun... but hopefully, wise American people will outnumber the others at elections so we won't be forced to buy this gun for such a reason. The length of the barrel helps with accuracy and also can keep the snakes at safe distances if you must shot them from up close. A bit too long for proper home defense but that depends also on your house design.  Both types of calibers present a manageable recoil but again, you will make your choice considering your family "composition". Wow! This shotgun is awesome! I prefer this all black version with the fiber glass bead to the "duo tone" full tactical version. Well, I would have liked to have the Picatinny rail for the red dot included in the package but is OK as it is, because that rail is cheap. And I would have liked to come with the normal stock which would have been easier to speedload as in this course . Rossi R92 lever action rifle was a nice and cheap alternative to the more expensive, American models on the market. This was true until the new tactical option appeared, a series named " Triple Black ". This comes in all black color, with a 16.5 inch barrel and a picatinny rail exactly where it matters the most: up top to facilitate an optical device while still retaining the open sights. That means that the rifle can be used even if you don't have yet the extra money for the scope or the red dot. This rifle comes chambered in two calibers, 8 + 1 rounds of .357 Magnum or .44 Magnum. And, as a cherry on top, the barrel is threaded for a silencer. Cool! Personally, I eyed the cheaper ("regular") .357 Magnum version but because this model ejects the tube on top of the receiver, there was no way to install a scope. Because of the price, I still wanted it but my tired eyes are not getting better so the tactical version (that is still cheaper than the Henry offerin...

No ammo available? Train on your room or in your backyard with this great system. It is accurate and silent. But... I see no way to change the battery on the laser bullet and that means another 60 bucks on a new bullet... So, the system can be hacked to provide a better trigger system and a constant power supply. My first ideas is to make a switch on the hammer or trigger lever that closes the circuit and a little microcontroller (PIC12F683 or similar) will temporize the light on the laser. All connected to an external battery. A little hard to implement on a revolver with rotating cylinder but then there the laser must be inserted directly in the barrel with the cylinder open? For the budget version of Mossberg, the Maverick 88 is an incredibly reliable shotgun. A shotgun that can be serviced (for the most part) with components from the 500 series. The one that I prefer is the 20 gauge shell variant but unfortunately, there is no "Security" option. The smallest barrel for 20ga is of 22" length and that means a little too long for home defense. Maverick 88 comes with a youth stock and acquiring the target is kinda difficult for adults. The shell capacity (5 + 1) is reasonable. Anyway, Maverick 88 is a viable cheap option and is a solid base for an upgrade project. The product web page . A video presentation:

No matter how well a pistol for rimfire ammo is built, it is enough one faulty bullet to introduce a huge delay between shots that can be from annoying to fatal. In this case a revolver comes for the rescue. And LCRx in 22 WMR is one of the best solutions for this kind of ammo. It has only 6 rounds but this helps with the overall dimensions of the gun and I prefer it as slim as possible. Did I mentioned that .22 WMR is my preferred ammunition? Henry X Models is an amazing rifle/shotgun series and the Big Boy X Model in .357 Magnum and .38 Special ammo is part of it. The lever action rifle comes with a plethora of features as fiber optic sights, Picatinny and M-Lok accessory slots, a drilled and tapped receiver for optic devices, a threaded barrel for silencer mounting, side gate loading while the classic removal tube magazine is still present. In short words, a dream of a rifle that gives even more value to the revolver ammunition. Once acquired, I will rush in equipping it with a flashlight, an illuminated scope and saddles for supplementary ammo as this will definitely be my side bed rifle that will be used for eventual bad night events (caused mainly by predators) on the homestead which I find them more frequent than anything here, in the place I live. This tactical lever action shotgun (if you ask me, is a rifle that tries to be a shotgun) shoots 2 1/2 " shells and this is the only disadvantage compared to a true shotgun that is chambered in 3". It is pretty and practical and comes with a life time warranty that completely justifies the high price (especially when you compare it with a Marlin equivalent). It can be easily accessorized with a flashlight and saddle carriers for extra shells on both the stock and the receiver. The barrel has a fiber optic front sight only but the receiver is prepared for optical mounts. Well, is nice to have a scope or a red dot but in my opinion, any optic device is already too much for a shotgun (or a rifle that must function as one) used around the farm and for home defense. This is a superb looking rifle, that shoots with energy beams... no, it does not, but it looks like. It is a bolt rifle chambered for .22 Magnum, with a gorgeous Bronze Cerakote finish barrel threaded for silencer and an aluminum scope rail. This is the Ruger bolt action rifle that I like the most.
